Odgen Utah Mysterious history and cool place
We went there almost a year ago after we came back from New Orleans. I did not take into account that weather, ha. It snowed and poured on us as made our way to Ogden for Hill Areospace museum. We loved the free museum, my hubby ‘s Dad who was an aerospace engineer worked on the B-1 Lancer cockpit. They had one of the planes there. It is so cool to see.
It was crazy, while my daughter was over the museum and sat and got snacks in the car. We discovered that Honeyville weather had scattered showers through out the day.
Crystal hotspings in honeyville that boosts of the highest mineral context in the world so much that one gets out of the pools looks like a burnt Oompa Loompa. Because the minerals are so thick. It’s a fun place to visit with a rich history of sun bathers and Chinese immigrants protecting and maintaining the pools.
We changed plans. We looked up places to eat in Ogden. We narrowed it down to two Pig and the jelly jar or Sapori Italian bakery. I was bias wanting Italian. It was so yummy having lunch there, I had no clue one could get Sicilian pasties in Utah.
We went to 24th street parked… the architecture on the buildings is not pioneer styled like rest of Utah its very French… American mix beautiful.
Ogden has a different history.
And this.
Originally Ogden was founded by Canadian Skeen Ogden. When the Brownings came in 1845ish they kept the name of Ogden despite the space where they could have change that to his name but he did not. Jonathan Browning as you can looked up change the world with his single shot gun and his huge influence on the community. Unfortunately the Union Station in Ogden did not cover half the details of his life that he lived and his son John Moses Browning who did so much for the LDS church and for everyone in the world with their gun making. There history of religious and bootlegging is amazing. 2 -bit street is there!!
We had a fun time at Smash it, smash room in Ogden. You pay per pound to smash or at the time you could bring in your own stuff to smash. It’s fun, loud and safe!
Then we went across the way to the cutest cafe Gandy Dance mercantile that had ice cream and a live band playing. It’s a sweet community hang out with family games and tables. Sofas to get cozy with a book on. The 200 year old history of the place is awesome the Hawaiian owners are sweet.
