NOLA is one the coolest places to visit in the USA because of its amazing, insane history history. We went with our covid airline credits because it was the city that in the USA is like Europe without going to Europe. We planned on the French Quarter because we were sans kids.  Best book to read on the history of new Orleans is The world that created New Orleans. We went for St Patrick’s day. Missed the parade by a weekend, where the parade  threw all the ingredients for a good old fashion Irish strew and the parade goes got head on the head and grabbed the potatoes, cabbage and fixing took it home, cooked it and ate. Veggies being thrown at crowds and no lawsuits prohibiting it. NOLA is a different world. Wish we had been there for the experience.

The big easy is so fun to travel to, there are some things to beware of in the french quarter. The time for when nightlife starts family fun is done by 5.

We stayed in a local hotel near the Abby, The Haunted hotel Fun local place in the French Quarter that boasts of the Axe Man living there at one point. The Axe man tale made Jazz music  listening overnight. When the Axe man would kill peeps if you were not listening to Jazz music.  It was a fabulous place to stay, we got to know alot of locals and great places to eat. Beware of the lines for food at the big easy and how its the big easy so what you think will be on time is at least 15 minutes later.

My Cajun Aunt always taught me what great cajun food was. So I have high standards for good NOLA food. Creole food and fried alligator did not disappoint!! The Italian Maifeta down there is worth the visit alone.

Some of our favorite food joints:

The old NOLA cookery the preps  you get your reservations online. We did not know that and waited in line for an hour and a half.

Coop’s place– great local place, locals love.
